The Detroit Training Institute of Technology’s Cooperate Training program offers the following four key industry standard certificate options to increase the skill level and effectiveness of your employees:

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead Renovators (Course & Exam)

DTIT is licensed to teach the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lead Renovators course. This license is also recognized by the new Federal EPA laws and can be used nationwide. Michigan law states that any person performing construction work on a home or building built before 1975 must have a lead renovators license, or face up to $35,000 in fines. This course is mixture of classroom instruction and hands on learning.

EPA Section 608 Certification (Exam Prep & Exam)

The EPA Section 608 test is intended to measure a technician's knowledge of refrigerant containment laws as established by the Clean Air Act. Areas covered include all E.P.A laws and regulations to protect our environment and ozone as well as knowledge of recovery and deposal of refrigerants.

R-410A Certification (Exam Prep & Exam)

As more manufacturers build air conditioning equipment using the HFC R-410A, it is important that contractors and technicians understand the safety, safe handling, proper charging, operating characteristics and proper applications of this refrigerant. R-410A is a mixture presently marketed under the brand names of Puron, Suva 410A, and Gentron AZ-20. R-410A operates at significantly higher pressures and refrigeration capacity. Many of the supply houses are requiring proof of training because of the safety and liability issues involved with this new very high pressure refrigerant.

Green Awareness (Course & Exam)

When it comes to mechanicals, (HVAC/R, Plumbing and Electrical) "Green" means maximizing the energy efficiency of existing equipment, specifying the most efficient systems available for the application and the available budget, using renewable and sustainable fuel sources, and conserving water. This course contains four main sections: Section 1 Core knowledge of Energy Management and Analysis Section 2 Green Heating - Ventilation - Air Conditioning - Refrigeration Section 3 Electrical Generation and Consumption Section 4 Green Plumbing Green Awareness.

Additional Skill Trades Courses

We are also licensed by the State of Michigan to offer several skill trades courses. These 4 month courses include: Heating & Cooling (HVAC), Electrical Wiring Residential, Modern Plumbing, Carpentry & Building Construction and Building Construction with Green Technology. For each course and test preparation, students will receive the corresponding book (at least one week in advance). Full payment must be made in advance of books being issued. All prices include the instruction/test prep time, book and exam cost.
